The Award & Frame Company

As our name suggests, custom picture framing is at the heart of what we do.

Our story began at Fort Lee, Virginia, in 1988, when LTC (Ret.) Robert “Bob” Oldmixon retired from the Army and purchased a small picture-frame shop. In December of that year, Appomattox Gallery was born. Within a few months, the business expanded to include awards and engraving.

A few years later, in 1995, Scott Oldmixon opened The Award Shop in Colonial Heights. In 1998, the shop moved to its current location on The Boulevard and added custom picture framing to its offerings. As the business continued to grow, it became known as The Awards & Frame Company.

Below are just a few examples of the custom framing projects we have completed. While they represent only a small portion of our work, they reflect the quality, creativity, and variety of framing we proudly provide.
